Fool's Gold is a Commedia Dell'Arte play featuring Pantalone, Il Dottore, Isabella, Arlecchino, Tartaglia, Lelio, and a new character created by the company, Count Antonio Viagra.

When Pantalone, the Miser conspires with his doctor to fake an illness in order to marry his daughter to an old business rival, he sets off a chain reaction of comic mayhem. Pretending that he is about to die, he announces his intention of giving away all his money. Faced with the prospect of being penniless, his naive daughter, Isabella must choose between her father’s dying wish and her love for the handsome, young Lelio. She is not the only one faced with a moral dilemma. One of Pantalone’s zany servants Arlecchino must also decide between taking his master’s gold or thwarting his master’s misguided plans.
