Mime & Physical Theatre

List 2

Dogtroep "Dogtroep, founded in 1975, is an Amsterdam company that has achieved fame well over the Dutch borders with large-scale imagery theatre performances, at various indoors and outdoors locations. The group uses images, acting and music and hardly any text."  I saw Dogtroep perform a wonderful piece on the lake inside the Expo grounds during Expo '92 in Sevilla, Spain.  A terrific company.

LA FURA DELS BAUS  "...is not married to any GENRE, is single, androgynous and snores at night. It crossbreeds animals of different species and obtains beings without a name."

KUNST-STOFF  "...is a San Francisco-based organization that creates experimental and eclectic "art forums" under the artistic direction of Tomi Paasonen and Yannis Adoniou. KUNST-STOFF art forums link multiple forms of art - dance, theater, music, film, painting, photography and sculpture - into cohesive, dynamic experiences that provoke change as they educate and entertain."

"The Corporeal Mime Society was formed in Vancouver in 1986 by Mimes Dean Fogal and Phillip Maxwell to create a structure that would cultivate a community awareness of the many health and artistic attributes of corporeal Mime; a facility that would house ongoing training in Corporeal Mime; and a community of Corporeal Mime Artists in British Columbia."

BAUMAN THEATRE FORUMS  "...Your world wide link to contemporary, classical, traditional, and alternative theatre emphasizing physical training for actors and its application in performance..."

MIME CENTRUM BERLIN "offers open space for further learning and training, cooperation and inter national exchange. It sees itself as a modern service institution for theatre-makers and for mediating between art process and public. The MCB concentrates on questioning the basis of movement in theatre in general. This aim is connected with the still existing German phenome non of the opposition of theatre as being text and dance as standing for movement."

Bill Irwin  - I think Bill Irwin is a great physical performer.

Yanci - "Acting, pantomime, movement theatre, slapstick comedy, mask theatre, life size marionettes and puppetry, and magic all play their part in the one-man shows and company productions of YANCI."

PETER MIM - German mime site.

Silver Elvis - This is the web site of Peter Jarvis, one of the most innovative performers in Canada.

Subtonic Monks - This is one of the grooviest groups in the Country.  A little bit of everything from music to mask.

Hong Kong Mime -"The development of Mime in Hong Kong has been closely associated with Hong Kong Fringe Club and Philip Fok. It was first introduced to fascinated audience in the Fringe Club's theatre by Covent Garden Street performer Mike Mulkerin in 1984. The Club soon became the base where mime performers can train and perform their own creative works."

Jesús Puebla- This is a mime from Spain who I found while surfing.  The site is in Spanish.

Els Joglars  - "No doubt Albert Boadella, Carlota Soldevila and Anton Font had in mind the idea of medieval minstrals when they decided that Els Joglars (The Minstrels) would be the mime-based theatre company they founded in 1962 and there is no doubt that the company's professional career has remained loyal to their name up to the present day."

GIORGOS FLOROS - This is a swedish mime with an english version of his site.

Markeline "It is a theatre Company and was established in 1985 with the aim of developing a fundamentally visual theatre, in which the actor's expressiveness, the absence of text and, mainly, the element of surprise, both actuarial and scenographical prevail..."
