APPLYING THE PAPER

Layer One (Tissue Paper)

Take the tissue paper and tear it up into strips.  Then dip the piece into water and drag it along the edge of the container to get rid of the excess water.  Apply it all over the surface of the mold.  (You could also use vaseline and coat the surface of the clay so that the glue will not stick but I find the water and tissue cleaner.  It can be annoying to try and clean the vaseline off the plastercine if you use it instead of clay.)  The water and tissue prevent the glue from sticking and the mask comes off smoothly.  Gently press the tissue layer down so that any excess water can run off and also to squeeze out any air bubbles trapped underneath.  You just need one layer.
