"This talented group of singers has represented the Ontario District at the Barbershop Harmony Society International Chorus Championship each year since their formation in 1998, bringing home five consecutive Silver medals in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005. With 34 men on stage in Kansas City in 2000, they were proud to be recognized as the smallest chorus to ever receive a medal at the International competition, and even more proud to be considered instrumental in shifting the perceptions that a smaller chorus can compete at the highest levels within the singing society." For the International Chorus Championships in Sault Lake City
this year they wanted to play with the contradictory idea of 'singing mimes'.
They asked me to coach them in mime techniques which they could perform as they
entered and exited the stage. They also wanted to interpret the two songs
physically in mime gesture as they sang. We worked with two mime styles,
Pantomime Blanche and Illusions. This group of men were a privilege to
work with because they were open minded and quick learners. They have a
great work ethic and many of them were talented in performing the mime
techniques. We worked within each man's physical ability and willingness
and as a result they won their fifth consecutive Silver medal. click to enlarge and isolate the photos |
