Objectives: (In addition to the first two
classes.)
1) Working with larger themes.
2) Create small stories within a
unifying theme.
Divide the class in half and assign or have
elected two group leaders/directors for each group. Give them
the entire class time to create a 10 minute piece which they
will perform the next day. Give one group the theme of
a main street of a big city and the second the main street
of a small town. With this piece the students can have
up to five 'real' people visible at a time. The rest
must be Graphic images. However they do not
have to be the same five people. The
students will work with transitioning from object to
person/person to object as well as object to object.
Again the sound effects become very important
in creating the atmosphere.
Notes:
1) The five
people can talk if they want.
2) The transitions must
be smooth and allow the audience to watch what the creators
want them to see.
3) The students must
rely on simplicity and not get bogged down into cumbersome
graphic images. They should ask themselves what the essential
images are that 'say' small town or big city.
